Welcome to the month of love, OTV readers and writers new and old!
As you can see, we have a brand new look and style—new year, new you!—which is why you didn’t hear from us as much as usual in January as we were gearing up for the reveal.
This exciting new direction comes with the bittersweet, as well…for the past 15 months, I have been your host here at the magazine and welcomed you into our monthly themes. I have worked with too many amazing writers to count, and interacted with our loyal and passionate readership regularly. I am grateful that Shareen gave me this wonderful opportunity and all the creative freedom a control freak like me could have dreamed of!
But starting in March, I will no longer be the Master of Ceremonies around here; Shareen will be back at the helm, sharing her unique vision and voice regularly.
In my time with OTV, I have learned and grown so much, both personally and professionally. There is a stereotype that creative people are difficult to work with, but our writers have been an absolute dream, and that’s no lie. I have also had as much fun as a kid at art camp, hunting down just the right images for their work and giving the magazine its unique look and style, with Shareen’s support and blessing.
Now you will be treated to Shareen’s vision entirely, with her enthusiasm and pizzazz already in evidence! But I am lucky enough to have one more month to curate in her new house, and I think it may very well be one of my favorites…love letters.
The response to this topic was overwhelming and so very moving. I cried more than once reading your submissions (and laughed, too!) and I know you will be just as impressed as I was with the varied voices and stories this inspired. What a way to go out!
Of course, I will still be supporting the writers who appear on these pages and hanging around on Twitter, where you can find me nearly every day. If you are really missing my big mouth, head over to Your New Best Friend or find me on The Good Men Project. I am looking forward to seeing what this New Year holds for me as well as OTV!
