Product Review: The Semplifi Hair Care System

Editor’s Note: Our Beauty Squad Leader, Sarah Ayoub, was one of several women asked by Al Melchiorre, designer of the Semplifi Hair Care System, to try and review the full line of products. Here is her honest review.

When I try a new product, I use it three times before I come to a conclusion. The first time is so I can see what happens and gather initial impressions. The second time is to start to feel familiar. And the third time is so I can tweak and customize the entire process to suit my own routine. That’s what I did with the Semplifi Hair Care System. Here are my gatherings. . .

My initial thoughts were *squeal* and “ooooh!” Semplifi looks pretty darn fancy to be honest. The directions for use are pretty straight forward as well. The only downfall – I’m not blown away by the scent. I like the scent of my hair products to trail behind me for days. But at the same time, I cannot possibly see the correlation between complicated scents and simplicity (and Semplifi is designed to make hair care simpler), so I get it. While the indicated 2 pumps just won’t be enough for the length or amount of curls on my head, Semplifi is also designed so I can adjust its use for myself. But I followed that baseline anyway for reviewing purposes, washed and conditioned my hair, then added Moisture Plus and some styling spray. I noticed some crazy bounce after that. I tested said bounce on the song “Crazy In Love”. Positive results!

My second run…. I increased the amount of pumps I needed, washed and conditioned my hair, towel dried it, added the volumizer with the styling spray, watched an episode of Love, and at some point fell asleep with my hair splayed out on every pillow in its radius. And in the morning I literally woke up like this.

Not exactly flawless, but about 20 steps closer to it! Which is beautiful if you are a mother, wife, and bakery manager. No matter how you look at my job descriptions, waking up later than 6:30 is just wasting the day. Bing, bang, boom, plus 15 minutes and a braid, voila! Pretty sweet.

By the last use, I had perfected the product amounts. I have a massive length of hair on my head, so I actually need about 7 pumps of each, but that’s just me! Later I found out that this is basically the recommended Hair Rx for my particular hair type. The creator of this product knows what he’s doing! What I know I love is that it makes my hair smooth and conditioned. I did not need to battle with my natural curls to get them to separate without tangling. And the shine. Yes! Such a small amount of effort for all of this hair! That’s commendable.

And then, when I thought things couldn’t get any better, I washed my daughter’s mop of curls and added some Moisture Plus and styling spray to get rid of the tangles. For the first time since she learned how to walk I was able to comb her hair without running behind her the whole time. She didn’t even notice me trying to eliminate tangles because there were none! That’s a bonus I cannot express in words. I’m certain the clouds parted and the angels sang, though.
So the conclusion – If minimal effort and slaying are your things, Semplifi is clearly there for you.
