I Don’t Want to Adult This Weekend

When did I
looking forward
to the weekend

spirals on a napkin
drink hot coffee
saltwater scalds
the heart

the word no
for all the good
it’s done me

I’ve hit eject
too often
the spring
no longer coils

risks are weighed
against gold
and threads
from my blanket

broken promises

I hammer away
can’t break through
the warped shield
holding him
in vice.
